AI agents: 10 hacks to get your SME recommended
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity: make your website visible, understandable and actionable for AI assistants — the 2026 guide for Belgian SMEs.
Recevoir le guideYour customers no longer search only on Google: they ask an AI assistant, which reads the web for them and recommends a handful of companies. Classic SEO and visibility in AI answers (GEO) now go hand in hand: companies readable by AI agents will be recommended, the others will become invisible.
This white paper gathers ten practical actions, from the simplest to the most advanced, to be part of the answers given by ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity: opening your site to AI crawlers, structuring your data, publishing verifiable proof, all the way to MCP connectors that make your data actionable. Here is a preview of the first three hacks.
Hack 1 — Open your door to AI crawlers
Many websites block, often unknowingly, GPTBot (OpenAI), ClaudeBot (Anthropic), PerplexityBot or Google-Extended: an overly restrictive robots.txt, a firewall or a CDN returning a 403 error. An agent that cannot read your pages can neither understand your offer, nor quote you, nor recommend you — it is the most invisible obstacle to AI visibility, and the fastest to remove.
Hack 2 — Answer your customers' real questions
An AI assistant reasons in intentions and questions, not keywords. List the ten questions your customers actually ask by phone or e-mail, and give each one a clear, honest answer on your website: the page that matches the natural wording of the question becomes the raw material of the assistant's answer.
Hack 3 — Mark up your data with JSON-LD (Schema.org)
Agents do not 'look at' your layout: they consume your structured data. Schema.org markup spells out who you are, what you sell and what you know — marked-up data is instantly comparable, with no risk of misinterpretation.

The next seven hacks cover: the consistency of your local information, your customers' languages (FR/NL/EN), verifiable proof, the 'answer-page' structure, readability without JavaScript, the MCP connectors that plug your data (Odoo, website, catalogue) into AI assistants, and the monthly measurement of your AI visibility. With, for each hack: why it works and a concrete example.
Hack 4 — Be crystal clear: who, where, for whom
Assistants cross-check sources before recommending: your website, your Google Business profile, directories, the press. If your name, address or phone number differ from one source to another, the model's confidence drops. Consistency of basic information is a reliability signal models can measure: a clean identity, an explicit service area and well-built local pages anchor your business in its geography.
Hack 5 — Speak your customers' languages
In Belgium, your customers query their assistant in French, Dutch and sometimes English — and the assistant answers in their language, favouring sources written in that language. A French-only website is almost absent from Dutch-language answers, and vice versa. The model quotes what it understands best in the language of the conversation: genuinely written content inspires trust, raw machine translation does the opposite.
Hack 6 — Publish verifiable proof
"Market leader for 20 years" convinces neither a human nor a model. What counts: named client references, authentic reviews, precise certifications, dated and sourced figures. Assistants favour claims they can cross-check.
