2026 barometer of the online visibility of Belgian care homes
294 domains audited, 159 websites analysed: the real state of the sector's web — HTTPS, SEO, languages, analytics and readiness for AI search. Every figure is measured by our tool, none is declarative.
Get the barometerWhat is the real state of the sector's online presence? To find out, we asked no one: we measured. Our audit tool examined every website with the same tests — HTTPS, tags, sitemap, languages, analytics, structured data, AI crawlers — and this barometer delivers the aggregated results, with methodology and limitations published in chapter 1.
What the measurement reveals
The foundation exists: 96% of analysed sites have a title, 93% are mobile-ready. But the layer that wins families is missing almost everywhere: 43% have no meta description, 55% expose no sitemap, 79% speak only one language — in a country with three. And fewer than one site in two measures its audience: half the sector flies blind.
The most striking figure: AI
While AI-referred web traffic grew tenfold in eighteen months (Similarweb), 93% of the panel's domains have no policy for AI crawlers and only one site out of 159 publishes a compliant llms.txt file. When a family asks their assistant “which care home would you recommend?”, the sector has not yet taken its place in the answer — and the first movers will take it.

SEO fundamentals: the basics are there, optimisation is missing
Across the 159 analysed sites, the minimum base is largely in place: 96% have a page title, 93% are technically mobile-ready. The median response time — 452 milliseconds — is decent. The good news stops there: only 57% of sites have a meta description, 47% a clean heading structure, 45% a sitemap…
Five priority projects for management
One: the trust base — HTTPS everywhere, secure forms. Two: SEO fundamentals. Three: measurement. Four: languages. Five: AI search readiness — business structured data, citable content, maintained reviews…
