eAgreement Light: sending agreement requests to health insurers goes digital
The digitalisation of care homes takes a new step: eAgreementLight digitalises the sending of agreement requests to health insurers in the Brussels Region (IrisCareNet) and in Wallonia (WalCareNet). Here is what it concretely changes for your facility.
A critical process for the nursing home — and long-painful
For every resident hosted in a nursing home, the facility must obtain a prior agreement from the health insurer. This agreement gates the financial coverage for housing and care. Without it, no reimbursement: administrative rigour is the rule, and any slip is costly for your MRS, MRPA or MR.

eAgreementLight: insurance agreements go digital
eAgreementLight is an initiative led by the Brussels and Walloon Regions, together with the health insurers and the regional health authorities. Its aim: to digitalise the sending of agreement requests through a secure digital flow via MyCareNet, replacing postal mail.

The result is concrete: no more outgoing mail lost, traceability of submissions on the care-home side, and measurable time savings on preparing each health-insurer agreement file.
In practice — phase 1: for now, only the sending of the request is digital (PDF via MyCareNet, WalCareNet or IrisCareNet). The medical adviser's decision still comes back by post, then is entered into your software. Digitalising the reply is planned for a phase 2 (January 2027).
IrisCareNet and WalCareNet: the official frameworks in Belgium
This transformation results from notable coordination across stakeholders. Depending on your Region, eAgreementLight runs under IrisCareNet (Brussels) or WalCareNet (Wallonia). The players:

For the Brussels-Capital Region, the operational framework is IrisCareNet. Iriscare coordinates it and certifies MRS software vendors.
AViQ — WalCareNet (Wallonia)
The Quality-of-Life Agency (AViQ) leads the WalCareNet framework for Wallonia. Same logic as Brussels, adapted to Walloon specifics.
National Intermutualistic College (CIN)
Provides coordination across all health insurers to build a common, operational framework on both sides of the linguistic border.
